And suddenly you had a team… and zero support for how to lead them.
Here’s the truth:
You’ve already been leading.
You just haven’t had the structure to feel like one.
You don’t need to read another leadership book or watch a TedX talk.
You need scaffolding.
I stepped into my first official leadership role managing a team of four with 700 contractors indirectly reporting to me.
Scary? A bit.
But I had something you probably don’t: support.
I had an experienced people, leader and my boss.
I had HR.
I had systems.
I had other experienced leaders around me as peers.
So even when it was hard, I had the support to handle it.
Most small business owners are expected to just “figure it out.”
But you can’t be strategic if you’re flying blind.
Recently I had a major Imposter Syndrome Moment and in that moment of self-doubt, I looked at enrolling in a leadership course from Harvard Business School Online.
You know, to “level up.”
But when I read the syllabus?
I realised I’ve already lived and had practical working experience of everything they’re teaching in the biggest businesses in Australia and I’ve taken it and made it practical for founders like you.
Emotional intelligence?
Team structure?
Delegation frameworks?
Communication systems?
